Christmas stories 4B (23.12.2005)
In the last lesson before Christmas on December 23, 2005, class 4B wrote Christmas stories with their English teacher Mag. Agnes Formanek. Here are some for you to read:
A Christmas miracle
It was a cold winter day and Emma's family couldn't afford a Christmas tree. Everybody was really sad and disappointed because they didn't have enough money to prepare good food and a Christmas tree. So Emma and her family sat in front of an empty table on Christmas Eve. Suddenly somebody knocked on the window. The whole family was really surprised because who would visit them on Christmas Eve? Emma opened the window and suddenly a shiny thing came in. It looked like a big sparkling star. And the thing did magic: suddenly there was a Christmas tree and a beautiful and good smelling turkey! As fast as the star had come it was gone again. Now everybody was happy and they looked at the beautiful Christmas tree. It was so wonderful! After this miracle they sat down and the family began to eat the turkey. But suddenly Dmma shouted, "It must have been Christkind!" (Andrea, Steffi)
The Day of Truth
It was Christmas again, snow was falling down in big flakes. I was sitting in my room wriggling around in excitement. Soon I would be called to come to the door of our living room and then the Christkind would ring the bell to allow me in. I became thirsty and went into the kitchen to get myself something to drink. I knew that my parents were helping the Christkind to decorate the tree. I went to the living room door to try to peep through the keyhole. Suddenly I felt a piece of string in my face and the bell began to ring. I was so shocked that I froze of fright. I started crying because my parents had told me that the Christkind would ring the bell. My mother came out with a sad expression. I was sobbing heavily. She hugged me and said that she was sorry that I found out. This was one of the most horrible days of my life.
(Myriam, Saskia)
The Star of Bethlehem
Once upon a time there was a little star. He didn't shine as bright as the others, so he wasn't allowed to be in the sky and shine on earth. He was very sad about this and hid behind a cloud. One day the other stars had troubles with a job: Who would be the star of Bethlehem? There was no one who could do the job. Then they saw the little sad star behind his cloud. They asked him about the job and he said okay. On Christmas Eve, when Jesus was born, he was shining in the sky and suddenly a miracle happened: he was the brightest star of all. He was proud of himself because now he was the most beautiful star. And he is still shining on Christmas Eve every year, so look out of the window and try to find him!
(Nina, Mathias)
The Little Christmas Tree
Once there was a girl. Three days before Christmas she went into a wood to look for a Christmas tree. But the only tree was a little tree without needles. She was very sad for it and so she took it with her. At home she put candles on it. On Christmas Eve she went into the room where she had put up the tree. Suddenly the tree had needles and it was very beautiful!
(Christina B., Julia, Lisa V.)
The Little Boy
One day before Christmas a little boy, Peter, searched for Santa Claus, but he didn't find him. He was very sad. And he didn't want to believe in him any more if he couldn't see him.
On the next day he and his family went to a shopping centre where a fat Santa was sitting and asking a girl what she wanted to have for Christmas. Peter thought he was the real one, but when he ran to him, he saw that his beard was false. His Dad said, "Don't worry, little son. There is a Snta Claus in this world. He just doesn't show his face. In other countries they call him 'Christkind'". The boy went home and didn't see Santa Claus in his whole life, but he still believed in him.
(Sean, Moritz)
The little star
In ancient times there was a little star which was the smallest star in the sky. He was alone because the other stars didn't want to play with him. On December 24th, Santa Claus wanted to bring the presents to the little children, but the weather was terrible and he couldn't see the way. So Santa Claus asked the little star if he could show him the way. The star showed Santa Claus the way and the star rescued Christmas. Now the smallest star in the sky was the happiest star in the sky! (Markus, Leon)
Susanna's wish
Once upon a time there lived a little girl. She had a strange wish. Her name was Susanna. The eight-year-old girl wanted to have a friend. So she wrote a letter to Santa Claus. But she didn't know where Santa Claus lived. Her father told her that Santa Claus lived on the nothpole. so she walked to the northpole and wanted to give him the letter. But she couldn't find him.So she sat down and was very sad. Suddenly Santa came. Susanna couldn't believe her eyes. So she gave him the letter and Santa read it. Some days later she met Annabell and they became friends. The end! (Lisa B., Nati)
Jesus
Johnny Goldberg was nine years old when he and his father came to London and started to live there. It was Christmas. Christmas in the streets. Christmas at school. And in the cinema there was Christmas too. Johnny hadn't ever celebrated Christmas with his father who was a very busy business man. His mother had died when he was two years old. Johnny had been nearly to every place in the world, to Peking, Honkong, Calcutta, Sydney, Cairo, Tunis, Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Vienna and so on. But he had never celebrated Christmas with anyone. He often asked his father, "Daddy, why do they all celebrate Christmas?" As he never got an answer, he asked his teacher, Mrs Swedson, "Do you know God?" She said, "He made all the humans and creatures on earth. How could I not know him? Many years ago God sent his son Jesus to us on earth. And at Christmas we always celebrate his birthday." So Johnny went to church and prayed to Jesus. (Nicki)
A Christmas dream
One day Max said to his mother that he had seen Santa Claus. He was seven years old and he believed in Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve he had a dream. In his dream he saw Santa Claus who gave him a big present. " This year you were very good", he said. On the next day he said to his mother that he had had a dream about Santa Claus. Then his parents went to friends. After five minutes Santa Claus really came and did the same as in his dream. (Andreas, Johannes)
