Haikus for Christmas 5A (23.12.2005)

aus LES, der Lehrer-Eltern-Schüler-Datenbank des Real- und Aufbaugymnasiums Hollabrunn

On December 23, 2005, class 5A wrote Haikus for Christmas together with our English teaching assistant Katie Huss and her family (her father is a headmaster at an American High school) and their English teacher Mag. Agnes Formanek. A haiku is a Japanese form of a poem with just three lines. Line one has five syllables, line two has seven syllables and line three has five again. A haiku should express one idea, in our case Christmas.

Here are the Haikus for Christmas:

Christmastime is grand
We celebrate with our friends
The birth of a child.
(the Huss family)
Christmas is not far
Santa is coming to town
We are all waiting.
(Kathi, Patricia)
Santa brought presents
The night before Christmas
For all the children.
(David S., Raphael)
The snow is falling
Children playing, having fun;
Yeah, that is Christmas!
(Liesi, Leni)
Best time of the year.
The Christkind is coming now,
I hope it will snow.
(Nina T., Kathrin)
Rudolph is coming
With his very shining nose
and we get presents.
(Christina, Bernadette)
Children are playing
In the garden with the snow.
All is wonderful.
(Kerstin, Stephanie)
When you hear the bell,
Santa Claus is coming soon
With many presents.
(Stefan, Paul)
Here's my wish for you:
Merry Christmas everyone
I hope you'll have fun!
(Sabsi, Nati)
Santa is coming,
A Christmas tree is standing,
We'll get some presents.
(Gregor, David)
Best time of the year
Now I get lots of presents
And we are happy.
(Markus)
Christmas is coming.
Children are very happy.
I get presents too.
(Georg, Riki)
